About this artwork

The Asa series is a reimagining of Yoruba culture, drawn from memory, history, and imagination, and expressed through four digital artworks: Ijapa (the fable of the tortoise through the unlikely figure of a Volkswagen Beetle), Refurbishing the White Man, Gele & Style, and Sunrise. Each piece explores a fragment of tradition, reframed in contemporary visual language, to question how culture persists and inspires.
